The historic town of Brooksville, Florida is located about 45 minutes north of Tampa. It can be traced back to 1845 (when it was then known as Melendez) when it was first inhabited. Downtown Brooksville features a number of restaurants on its cobble stoned streets and a market is held there at the weekend close to the Courthouse. Brooksville has spread in size over the years and now encompasses a much larger area than it did originally.
